Benue Governor Samuel Ortom has explained why National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Iyorchia Ayu ran into political troubles.
Ortom told Jemgbah traditional rulers their son, Ayu, ran into a political crisis because of his disregard for an early promise to step down if the party zoned the position of presidency to north.
Ayu hails from Jemgbah geo-political bloc comprising Gboko, Tarka, and Buruku Local Government while Ortom hails from MINDA, made up of Makurdi, Guma, Gwer and Gwer east Local Government Area, all in Benue North West Senatorial District.
The Governor, who spoke in Tiv language when he hosted the traditional rulers at the banquet hall of Government House Makurdi, Benue state capital, said there was a sharing formula in PDP where if the Presidency is zoned to one part of country, the National Chairman would emerge from another part.
