Senate Refers Screening of NPC Commissioner Norminees to it’s Committee

The Senate has commenced legislative action on President Muhammadu Buhari’s request for the confirmation of the nominees for National Population Commission (NPC) commissioners.

At the resumed plenary on Wednesday the upper chamber referred the screening of the nominees to its committee on National Population and National Identity .

The Committee which is chaired by Senator Sahabi Alhaji Yaú ( Zamfara North) is given two weeks to report back to the Senate.

It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari, had in a letter addressed to the Senate President, asked the Red Chamber to confirm the nominees “in the usual expeditious manner.”

The nominees are: Engr Benedict Opong (Akwa Ibom); Mrs Gloria Izofor Mni; Barr. Mrs Patricia O. Iyayan Kupchi (Benue), Dr. Bala Haliru (Kebbi) and Dr. Eyitayo Oyetunji (Oyo).
