All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Adamawa Central senatorial district, Senator Abdul-Aziz Murtala Nyako, has asked people of the state to vote for the party’s presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing his father, Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd), sanctuary where he hid his head after his impeachment as governor in 2014.
At a town hall meeting in Yola yesterday, Nyako said when Admiral Murtala Nyako was impeached, every governor in the North was asked to give him sanctuary where he could hide his head. Not a single governor agreed. He said, “The person who assisted Admiral, my father was Asiwaju. Asiwaju and Saraki were the ones who took Admiral out of Nigeria. Asiwaju’s son was the one who got accommodation for him,” Nyako said.
The meeting, which was organised for questions and answers, gives the people within the senatorial zone opportunity to have discussions with Nyako one on one.
Nyako said having heard the people’s request and seeing their challenges during his campaign tour, he would initiate laws that will benefit them, if he returns back to the Senate.
He said lawmaking has a direct and lasting effect on the people more than projects executed.
According to him, project execution is the direct responsibility of the executives and not for lawmakers, but the reverse is the case in Nigeria, which places lawmakers in a tight corner and at variance with their constituents.
