The broke football federation have struggled to pay the Portuguese coach and he is known to be owed salaries running over several months.

The Federal Government had initially agreed to foot the salaries of the Super Eagles.

The NFF and representatives of Peseiro have opened talks over a new contract.

On Sunday, he qualified Nigeria to the 2023 AFCON, which will be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire in January 2024.

He has promised to win a fourth AFCON title for Nigeria in Cote d’Ivoire.
