Leandro Trossard’s goal helped Arsenal on their way to a dominant 5-0 win over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night in the Premier League.
Arsenal dominated London rivals Chelsea with a statement 5-0 on Tuesday to open up a three-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
A Leandro Trossard goal, alongside braces from Ben White and Kai Havertz, secured a comprehensive victory for Mikel Arteta‘s side. The result at the Emirates Stadium was Arsenal‘s biggest-ever margin of victory over Chelsea and the Blues’ second-biggest-ever Premier League defeat.
And goalscorer Trossard could not resist rubbing salt in Chelsea’s wounds with a provocative message on social media after the game. “London is red!” he said on Instagram followed by a red love heart emoji.
Tuesday’s win is the perfect preparation for Arteta’s team ahead of Sunday’s north London derby at Tottenham. The Gunners will know that the title remains out of their hands but victory over Mauricio Pochettino’s side has kept the pressure on title rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s team are in action on Wednesday at Goodison Park in the Merseyside derby against Everton. City meanwhile will travel to Brighton with the champions knowing they will win a record fourth consecutive Premier League title if they win their remaining six games.
When asked how big a psychological boost the win over Chelsea is for his team, Arteta said:”Great for us obviously and for the confidence and the belief that we can do it as well. That we can come to these stages against big teams and perform and win games the way we’ve done it tonight.
