Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers had an assist for Feyenoord, while Peter Olayinka and Yira Sor scored for Slavia Prague, as both sides settled for an interesting 3-3 draw.
Slavia Prague traveled to the Netherlands for the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarterfinal tie.
Both sides were involved in high-scoring games in the previous round. Feyenoord saw off Partizan 8-3 on aggregate, while Slavia Prague beat LASK 7-5 over two legs.
Both teams looked threatening from the start, and it took just ten minutes for Feyenoord to take the lead, as Sinisterra put the home side in front with a beautiful curler that went to the left side of the goal.
After Feyenoord took the lead, Sor and Olayinka had chances to restore parity for Slavia Prague, but they failed to take their chances.
However, the pressure finally paid off for Slavia Prague, as Olayinka reacted swiftly to a rebound and fired home from close range to make it 1-1, four minutes before the break.
The second half started in a fiery manner, but it took 22 minutes of play for a side to rattle the net. And this time, it was another Nigerian striker Sor that was at the heart of it. The 21-year-old buried a well-placed finish behind Ofir Marciano to make it 2-1 for the visitors.
Nonetheless, the game was far from over, as Dessers was introduced into the game with Feyenoord trying to salvage a result. The Genk loanee proved his brilliance as he assisted Marcos Senesi’s goal, which made it 2-2.
The Dutch side thought they had won the tie after Orkun Kocku’s 86th-minute goal, but Ibrahim Traore had other ideas. The 33-year-old thrust a dagger in Feyenoord hearts as he scored in the sixth minute of stoppage time to ensure a 3-3 draw.
Both sides square off for the second leg at the Sinobo Stadium in Prague next week.
