“IPID received a call on standby where a police officer allegedly shot his girlfriend six times, and the girlfriend died on the scene. It is alleged the girlfriend went to the police officer’s house and found him with another woman sleeping in the house. An argument ensued, and the police officer then immediately shot at the woman who died on the scene,” Langa said.

The officer, who is stationed at Kanvelihle SAPS, was arrested and his firearm confiscated.

Langa said it was reported that the officer had no history of domestic violence and that police were still collecting information on the victim’s identity.
