Arsenal has joined the race to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen with the Nigerian international almost certain to leave Serie A this summer. A report from La Repubblica (via CalcioNapoli24), claim that The Gunners will go head to head with Chelsea to try to land one of European football’s hottest properties.
Napoli patron Aurelio De Laurentiis is resigned to the fact that his crown jewel will depart and that both interested parties are willing to meet the €130 million buy-out clause.
Osimhen has already stated his desire to play in England and told a news outlet at the Africa Cup of Nations where he is competing with his country, that he had “Already chosen his future”. Chelsea showed interest last January before the Nigerian international extended his current deal at the Serie A champions until 2026.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is desperate for an out and out goalscorer and the 25-year-old fits the prototype perfectly.
