The Nigerian community in the United Kingdom is mourning the untimely death of Saheed Wahab, a promising young man who passed away a day after arriving in the UK to pursue a master’s degree.

According to the Nigerians in the UK Community, Wahab’s death occurred on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

The cause of death has not been disclosed, and the community group did not provide specific details in their statement.

In a social media post, the community expressed their grief, saying, “Following the sad news we received regarding the death of Mr Saheed Wahab, a student at Teesside University who died a day after arriving in the United Kingdom from Nigeria.”

“He was here to start an MSc qualification, but unfortunately he died on Tuesday (16th January) afternoon in Teesside. May Almighty Allah forgive his sins and accept his return,” the statement continued.

While the cause of death remains unknown, the group has reached out to Wahab’s family in Nigeria and received permission to handle funeral arrangements on their behalf.

The Janazah (funeral) is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Jamia Masjid Al Madina in Middlesbrough.

The community is seeking financial support for the burial arrangements and has provided a bank account for well-wishers to contribute.

The statement concluded, “In view of the above, we’re soliciting for financial support towards his burial, please kindly donate generously to the account given below, may the Almighty accept it as an act of ibadah and grant us the rewards. Ameen.”
