All 22 governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, on Tuesday, graced the presidential campaign flag off of the party in Jos, Plateau State.
The governors turned up for the event in support of the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
This was disclosed by the Spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, SAN, in a tweet on Tuesday.
“Just a reminder: All 22 APC Governors were in JOS for our flag-off. No one stayed behind, singing ‘as e dey pain dem, e dey sweet us!‘ So, when the results start tumbling in, no one should scream ‘rigging’!”, he wrote.
Buhari leads Tinubu’s presidential campaign
Also present at the event was President Muhammadu Buhari who put to bed rumours that he was not going to return Tinubu’s favour by leading the campaign of the former governor of Lagos.
Sharing a photo of Buhari at the event, Keyamo tweeted, “The picture the sinking opposition prayed fervently not to see. Well, it has happened: President Muhammadu Buhari is personally leading the campaign of @officialABAT.”
Presidential election will define Nigeria’s soul
In a tweet after the event, Tinubu stated that the 2023 presidential election was one to define the soul of the nation.
He wrote, “Today I am in the historic city of Jos to flag off my presidential campaign. I have come, with my party to reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of progressive, democratic governance and to the fruits that only such governance can bring to our nation and its diverse people.
“25th February 2023 is a contest to define the soul of the nation and to determine our collective fate.
Given the chance, I will build a Nigeria where all citizens will be able to build a decent life from the fruits of their individual and collective endeavor.
“With this flag off, we take a most important, symbolic step in the best and proper direction of progress and #renewedhope. Remember the road to a better Nigeria lies before us. Together, let us walk it. Together, let us renew hope. Our journey begins now!”
