The best striker in Serie A, according to former AS Roma captain Francesco Totti, is Nigerian international Victor Osimhen.

Since joining Napoli in July 2020, Osimhen has continued to demonstrate his ability to score goals. He currently holds the Serie A scoring lead with nine goals from 11 league games.

Former Italian top-flight players have praised him for his qualities, and Roma legend Totti is the most recent to do so.

Totti’s comment on Osimhen

“The strongest striker in Serie A? Osimhen in my opinion,” Totti, who spent his entire 25-year club career at Roma, was quoted by Tuttonapoli on the BepiTv1 channel.

“First, because he scores, when he gets the ball, he scores. And then he makes himself available to the team. He’s always in the right place at the right time.”

Osimhen Napoli’s stats

When Napoli paid €70 million to acquire Osimhen from French club Lille, they made him the most expensive African player. His time in Naples has been successful, as he has scored 38 goals in 76 games.

He scored 10 goals in his rookie campaign, which was largely cut short by injuries, before scoring 18 goals in 2021–2022 and 10 goals overall this season.

He had eight goals in as many games just before the World Cup break, helping Napoli keep their lead at the top of the Serie A standings.

Totti’s compliments follow Filippo Inzaghi, a legend of AC Milan, who just referred to Osimhen as “the best right now and beyond Karim Benzema and Olivier Giroud.”

German Denis’ comment

In agreement with Totti, former Napoli striker German Denis said:

“I agree with Totti, Osimhen is the best striker in Serie A,” Denis told Tuttonapoli.

“He’s having a great time, he’s making the difference and Napoli are ahead of everyone thanks to him too.”

Osimhen will hope to pick up from where he left when Napoli return to Serie A action on January 4 away to Inter Milan.
