There is nothing as “Electronic Transmission” in the new Electoral Act – Senate President, Ahmad Lawan

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has reacted to the controversy non-transmission of last presidential election result has sparked. 

Speaking during plenary on Tuesday, February 28, Lawan stated that there is nothing as “Electronic Transmission” in the new Electoral Act. The Senate President who disclosed that he participated in the process of passing the bill into law, said electronic transmission would mean each vote is sent to servers of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He averred that what the law allows is “transfer” of result sheets electronically. Lawan also said that the courts will be in better position to interprete the law.
