Red-hot Iwobi nets brace for only the second time in his PL career as Fulham beat Brighton

Alex Iwobi continued his fine form for Fulham, netting twice as they beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 in the Premier League game played at Craven Cottage on Thursday evening.

Iwobi opened the scoring in the 4th minute, receiving a misplaced pass from Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, before putting the ball into the open net.

According to statisticians at Opta, his goal is the earliest Fulham have scored in the Premier League since August 2023 when Andres Pereira scored after 27 seconds against Arsenal.

It is also the Cottagers’ earliest at Craven Cottage since August 2022, when Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored after 45 seconds against Brentford.

Carlos Baleba restored parity for Brighton, burying the ball into the bottom corner from outside the box, courtesy of an assist from João Pedro.

An own goal from Matt O’Reilly gave Fulham the lead before Iwobi secured the maximum points for the host, three minutes before stoppage time.

The Nigerian midfielder received a pass from Antonee Robinson and skillfully evaded his markers before burying the ball into the bottom corner.

As revealed by statisticians at Opta, the Hale End product has now scored a brace for the second time in his Premier League career

The Nigerian midfielder now has three goals and three assists in 13 games against the Seagulls.
