Katsina State, Nigeria — In a strategic blend of technology and politics, Katsina State is set to unveil the Tinubu/Dikko Digital Innovation Centre, a facility designed to empower youths with digital skills while strengthening civic and political engagement across the state.
Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, announced plans for the unveiling of the centre, located at Barhim Estate, Katsina, describing it as a critical intervention to harness innovation, talent development and youth participation in governance.
The initiative comes amid the growing influence of digital platforms on political participation, public discourse and electoral outcomes in Nigeria.
As the centre is positioned to play a key role in mobilising young people and amplifying policy communication ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
Speaking on Thursday in Abuja, the National Coordinator of the Talent Hunt initiative, Mr. Faisal Jafar Rafindadi, said the centre was conceived as a forward-looking platform to advance Governor Radda’s development agenda through technology-driven youth engagement.
According to Rafindadi, the centre will focus on identifying, training and nurturing digital talents among Katsina youths, equipping them with skills relevant to the modern digital economy while encouraging active participation in civic and campaign-related activities.
“The Tinubu/Dikko Digital Innovation Centre will serve as a hub for digital mobilisation, innovation and youth participation. It is designed to empower young people with practical digital skills while promoting Governor Dikko Radda’s developmental vision,” he said.
Our correspondent indicates that the centre’s core focus areas will include digital campaign strategy, social media mobilisation, digital skills training and influencer engagement. It will also host a competitive talent hunt programme aimed at discovering and showcasing outstanding digital talents across the state.Beyond its immediate political relevance, stakeholders believe the initiative could have long-term benefits for Katsina’s digital ecosystem by creating a pipeline of skilled youths capable of contributing to entrepreneurship, innovation and economic growth.
Governor Radda is expected to formally launch the centre in the coming weeks, an event organisers describe as a potential game-changer in Katsina’s digital and political landscape.
