A suspect has been arrested after attempting to break into a vehicle at the Lion’s Head parking area, following swift action by the Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) Sea, Air, and Mountain (SEAM) Special Operations team.
According to SANParks, rangers on routine patrol witnessed the break-in earlier today.The suspect tried to flee on foot but was tracked and apprehended by a K9 unit shortly afterwards. The suspect was handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation.
In a statement, SANParks urged visitors to remain vigilant, stressing the importance of not leaving valuables inside parked cars. The agency noted that Lion’s Head and other hotspot areas are under intensified patrols as part of efforts to curb opportunistic crime and ensure visitor safety.
