Hugo Lloris responded to Harry Kane’s crucial missed penalty during Saturday night’s World Cup match between England and France.

On Saturday night, Kane might have missed the biggest penalty of his career as England lost to France and were eliminated from the World Cup.

The striker, who had already beaten club teammate Lloris once, misfired on his second attempt, missing the opportunity to tie the score and take the overall lead in goals for England.

Lloris has now voiced his opinion regarding the situation. “The first one, we know each other so well, that I said to myself he’ll change,” Lloris told the French Team’s twitter account. “But he stayed with his usual. And the second one I went the right way. Certainly he must have been feeling the pressure so he lifted it a bit, he forced it a bit. It was an important moment in the game.”

Kane and Wayne Rooney are tied for the most goals scored by England in history after Kane calmly converted a penalty earlier in the game.

The striker, still reeling from the disappointment of being eliminated, said the miss would “hurt for a while.”

On Wednesday, Les Bleus take on Morocco for a spot in the World Cup championship game. They hope to become the first team to successfully defend the World Cup since Brazil in 1962.
