Charles Oputa, better known as Charley Boy or Area Fada, has opened up about the aftermath of the busstop rename saga and how he took a break to care for himself to preserve his mental health.
Charly Boy busstop in Lagos was renamed Olamide busstop as many other streets and busstops named after Igbos were changed to Yoruba names amidst tribal sentiments.
At the time, Charles Boy spoke up, stating that they can change a busstop name but his legacy can’t be changed.
Now, he has revealed how he took a break by travelling abroad “before Nigeria happen” to him.
“Didn’t want to drown in people’s madness,” he added.
However, he said that while abroad, he kept itching to return to Nigeria, “the same environment wey dey give me sleepless nights”.
He stated that depression is real and he was lucky enough to be able to step away from the saga and return to Nigeria refreshed.
He added that there are people who have no where to go to reset their mental health.
He said that we need to talk about these things because mental health is no joke.
