Daniel Bwala, a lawyer and policy analyst, has announced his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and indicated that he is close to joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bwala, who served as a spokesman for Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential campaign, made this declaration during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He confirmed, “I am not a member of the PDP. Yes, I have left the PDP.”

When questioned about his potential membership in the APC, Bwala responded, “I am very close” to joining the ruling party, which he had previously left. His departure from the PDP and potential switch to the APC have not surprised many observers, given his evolving political stance.

Bwala, a former critic of President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 election campaign, has since expressed support for the president’s policies. In January, he visited President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, calling on Nigerians to back the government. Bwala also met Tinubu in Paris, France, and defended these visits by stating that he had informed Atiku Abubakar beforehand.

In response to speculations about his intentions, Bwala dismissed rumors that his actions were aimed at securing a government appointment.
