The two European clubs go head-to-head in pursuit of the Nigeria international who has experience playing in Portugal, France, Spain, and Croatia
Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem is a hot topic in the transfer market, with Belgian giants Club Brugge and French side FC Nantes vying for his signature.
Presently, Awaziem is under contract with Boavista until 2025, but both Club Brugge and Nantes are eager to secure his services.
Last season, Awaziem made a significant impact while on loan with Hajduk Split, helping them secure the Croatia Cup.
Impressed by his performance, Hajduk wanted to retain him permanently, but negotiations hit a roadblock as Boavista stood firm on their financial demands.
Currently, the Super Eagles defender is back with Boavista for preseason duties.
However, the Goa Spotlight reports that Club Brugge is closely monitoring Awaziem as they seek to strengthen their defence.
Meanwhile, L’Equipe reveals that FC Nantes is already in talks with Boavista to acquire the talented defender.
Interestingly, this would not be Awaziem’s first stint at FC Nantes, having played on loan for them during the 2017-2018 season.
According to the report, the 26-year-old has apparently already agreed to a four-year contract with FCN.
Awaziem has a market value of 3.5 million euros (₦3 billion) according to Transfermarkt, but interested may have to part with €4 million to secure his transfer.
