Almost twenty-eight years to the day the Nigerian government promised the 1994 Super Eagles houses, the current government under Muhammadu Buhari is redeeming the pledge.

The readiness of the houses for the 22 members of the squad, some of whom are dead now, was announced on Monday in Lafia, the capital of Nassarawa State.

Buhari was represented by the Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Mr Muhammed Abdullahi at the launching of the National Housing Programme initiative of the Nigerian government

The houses are expected to be a part of the current housing programme and will be in the state of every member of the squad, as pledged by the government.

Some of the members of the squad are in the current coaching crew of the team, with three of them in the current setup. Austin Eguavoen, Emmanuel Amuneke and Alloy Agu were all members of the 1994 squad and are in the current coaching setup of the Super Eagles.

Some of the other members of the squad are Samson Siasia, Sunday Oliseh and Jayjay Okocha.
