Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun; and Chukwuma Soludo, governor of Anambra; have been included in the expanded presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election.

In the new list, which will be inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike was appointed coordinator of the party’s campaign in Rivers and the FCT.

Soludo was appointed coordinator for Anambra, while Adeleke is named coordinator for Osun. Adegboyega Oyetola, minister of marine and blue economy, was named deputy national coordinator I for stakeholders’ mobilisation in the south-west.

Wike is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Soludo was re-elected for a second term in November 2025 on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), while Adeleke won his re-election on August 16 under Accord.

The APC had initially released the list on August 22, appointing Abdulaziz Yari, former governor of Zamfara, as director-general; while Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house of representatives; and Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe; were named deputy director-generals.

However, in the new list, Akpabio, Abbas and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, governor of Kwara, are appointed deputy vice-chairmen I, II and III, respectively, while Buni becomes deputy director-general I for the north.

Barau Jibrin, deputy senate president, who was deputy director-general III for the north in the first list, becomes deputy director-general II for the region.

Opeyemi Bamidele, senate leader, and Benjamin Kalu, deputy speaker of the house of representatives, were appointed deputy director-generals I and II for the south, respectively.

A notable difference in the new list is the appointment of all 32 APC governors as campaign coordinators for their respective states, while Sharafadeen Alli, the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo, was appointed coordinator for the state.

For Bauchi, Mohammed Abubakar, the APC governorship candidate in the state, was appointed campaign coordinator, while Chijioke Chukwu, the party’s flagbearer in Abia, is coordinator for the state.

Unlike the first list, the new one contains 14 advisers, including Bisi Akande, Segun Osoba, George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation; Florence Ita-Giwa, former Cross-River south senator; Ibikunle Amosun, former governor of Ogun; Iyiola Omisore, former APC national secretary; and Wale Edun, former coordinating minister of the economy, among others.

On August 19, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially opened campaigns for the presidential and national assembly elections.

The campaign window runs until January 14, 2027, according to INEC’s revised timetable.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, are among the major contenders in the 2027 presidential election alongside Tinubu.
