Former Dutch Eredivisie forward Anco Jansen has praised Ajax’s new signing Tolu Arokodare following the Nigerian’s impressive debut for the Eredivisie club.
Arokodare joined Ajax on a season-long loan from Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the Dutch giants holding an option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.
The Super Eagles striker made an instant impact by scoring on his debut as Ajax claimed a 3-1 victory over FC Volendam in a preseason friendly.
Speaking on ESPN’s Voetbalpraat, the former FC Zwolle and NAC Breda star described Arokodare as a “beast” and backed him to make a significant impact at Ajax.
Jansen also suggested that the Nigerian forward has looked more convincing than fellow attacker Marcos Leonardo, whom he believes has struggled to live up to expectations since arriving at the club.
“Everyone said about that Tolu : he is a beast, of course. But I actually found him much better on the pitch than what was said about him beforehand,” Jansen said via FC Update.
Arokodare will be hoping to build on his impressive start when Ajax host Shelbourne in the UEFA Conference League qualifying clash at the Johan Cruijff Arena.
