With a statement on the official website, South African Premiership club Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of Nigerian attacker Etiosa Ighodaro.

Etiosa is the younger brother of former Nigeria international striker Osaguona Ighodaro who represented the Super Eagles at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, coming off the bench in matches against South Africa and Sudan.

The 24-year-old has Premiership experience, with 72 games under his belt for three different clubs, namely AmaZulu FC, SuperSport United and Chippa United.

A product of Abuja Football College, Etiosa has also worn the colours of University of Pretoria.

Before his move to South Africa in 2021, he represented Abuja Football College in the prestigious Viareggio Cup.

Speaking on the capture of the Nigerian forward, Kaizer Chiefs’ sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. said: “We warmly welcome Etiosa into the Kaizer Chiefs family. We’re excited that he has joined our journey.

“His passion, work rate and dedication will surely add to the team this season and beyond.

“We look forward to creating unforgettable moments together in the Gold & Black colours of the Glamour Boys. Here’s to new beginnings and the spirit of Amakhosi.”

For the 2025-2026 season, Ighodaro has been allocated the number 50 jersey at Kaizer Chiefs.

He was not called up for Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-0 win over Richards Bay in the Premiership on Tuesday.
