Boniface’s Good Form In German Football This Season

Boniface has enjoyed a decent campaign at Leverkusen as he has put in a string of productive displays for them in the final third. The Nigeria international has banged in 11 goals and secured two assists in 27 matches for the German club this season across various competitions.

The 24-year-old has led the line well for the German club and deserves credit for averaging 2.7 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball in the final third based on his pass success rate of 71.5% in the German first division (stats via whoscored).

Boniface’s current contract at the Bundesliga club will expire in the summer of 2028. Hence, the Magpies would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him this year.

Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Boniface Up?

Boniface is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third and has got the eye to create the odd chance for others around him up top.

Standing at 1.90m, the Nigerian talent can use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels up top. However, Boniface has to find a way to improve his link-up play in the opponent’s half. Furthermore, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League.

Boniface would enhance the quality of Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s attack. He has what it takes to be a regular starter at the Tyneside club in the coming seasons.

At 24, Boniface has got his peak years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Magpies to pursue in this summer transfer window. However, Howe would have to be patient with his progress as the Nigerian striker might need some time to adjust to life at St. James’ Park. All in all, the Magpies should consider snapping him up soon.
