Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool talisman, was left in tears as the team crashed out of the Champions League on penalties.

The Reds had won 1-0 at Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie last week.

Arne Slot’s men were slight favourites to progress with the secone leg at home.

But Ousmane Dembele levelled the tie on aggregate, before PSG went on to win 4-1 on penalties.

Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones both saw their spot kicks saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma, while Vitinha, Goncalo Ramos, Dembele and Desire Doue scored all four of PSG’s penalties.

Salah struggled to contain his emotions after the shoot-out, with the forward seen in tears.

The match could be Salah’s last European appearance for Liverpool as he is out of contract in the summer.
