Next chapter? Chidimma invited to compete at Miss Universe Nigeria

Former Miss SA contestant Chidimma Adetshina has been given an opportunity to fast track as a finalist in the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

The invitation was formally presented a day after the 23-year-old announced her “difficult decision” to step down from the local competition.

Over the past few weeks, Chidimma has made headlines over her African parentage, which includes a Nigerian father and an alleged Mozambican mother.

The Miss SA finale takes place on Saturday, 10 August, at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria.

MISS UNIVERSE NIGERIA OFFERS CHIDIMMA A SPOT AS A FINALIST

On its official social media accounts, Miss Universe Nigeria owner Guy James Murray-Bruce invited Chidimma Adetshina to participate in their pageant.

The competition – now in its second year – has recently announced its Top 24 candidates. Chidimma could bag a spot on the list thanks to her ties with the African country.

A statement read: “We at Miss Universe Nigeria have been closely following the developments regarding your decision to bow out of the Miss South Africa beauty pageant. We acknowledge the circumstances surrounding your withdrawal and understand the challenges you may be facing.

“In light of these events, we want to extend our support and encouragement. We believe that your journey in the world of pageantry is far from over. There are still numerous opportunities for you to showcase your talent, grace, and beauty.”

The pageant claimed that Chidimma was eligible to enter due to her Nigerian heritage on her father’s side.

It continued: “This is an opportunity to represent your father’s native land on an international stage. We believe you would be an outstanding contender.

“We encourage you to consider this opportunity and take part in a competition that celebrates the strength, intelligence, and diversity of Nigerian women.”

WILL SHE TAKE UP THE OFFER?

While Chidimma Adetshina has not officially responded to the invitation, she has made it clear that her disassociation from Miss SA is the country’s loss.

She posted in a cryptic Instagram post on Friday: “When you know your ‘why’ then your ‘what’ has more impact. Because you are working towards your purpose.”
