Nollywood actress, Omotola Odunsi, is dead

The Yoruba industry has lost another of its own, Dejumo Lewis, a Nollywood actor, who died at age 80.

The actor, who is notable for his roles in “A Place in the Stars”, ‘Crossroads’, ‘Power of 1’, and most especially for playing the Kabiyesi role in ‘The Village Headmaster”, was confirmed dead by his colleague, Saidi Balogun in a post on his Instagram page.

Said bade him goodbye, while praying for his soul to rest in peace.

“Good night DEJUMO LEWIS, may your soul rest in perfect peace”.

Though it remains unknown the cause of his death, many actors have taken to social media to mourn him.

Months back, the Yoruba Nollywood industry was thrown into mourning as they lost one of their own, Sunday Ossai.

The news of his demise was made known by veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, who was one of the first to use the late film practitioner on the first set of his company.

Bading him farewell, he praised him for his work in the industry and described the deceased as a foremost movie effect maker.

In September, the Industry lost veteran, Akeem Alamutu, whose demise was made known by Odunlade Adekola, as he urged everyone to embrace a humble existence and to keep in mind that all things will eventually become part of the annals of history.

The likes of Funke Akindele, Shaffy Bello, Jaiye Kuti, Hilda Dokubo, Muyiwa Ademola, and more paid respect to him.

During the same week, another veteran, Yemi Adeyemi popularly known as ‘Suara’, who acted alongside Sola Sobowale in the popular hit TV series, Super Story passed on.

The devastating news was made known by his family in a statement signed by his son, Adetoun Adeyemi, urging the public to give them some privacy in their time of grief.

Actress, Sidikat Odukanwi, better known as Iyabo Oko also died this year, on Wednesday evening, June 29th.

According to reports, Iyabo Oko, who had been away from the movie scene for years now, had been battling with ill health which led to her untimely demise.

To top off the death list, Murphy Afolabi was announced dead on Sunday, May 16th, by his colleague, Tunde Ola, who bade him farewell and said a word of prayer for his soul.

Kemi Filani learned that the actor slipped on tiles and hit his head on a hard surface, and had sustained injuries that led to his untimely death.
