Nigeria were handed fresh hope in their bid to qualify for the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday.

This follows Rwanda’s shock 2-0 victory over South Africa.

Innocent Nshuti and Gilbert Mugisha scored to ensured all three points for the Amavubi Stars.

The win means Bafana Bafana did not pick up six points from two games which could have them firmly in control of the group.

The win for Rwanda puts them top of the lot with four points. South Africa are second with three points while Nigeria are third with two points.

With the Super Eagles getting two points from their first two games in Group C of the qualifiers, the fears of a second consecutive World Cup miss was on the horizon.
