The Lagos State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the driver that killed Olaolu Mudasiru, the Deputy Managing Director of an investment and asset management firm, Vetiva Capital Management.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Olaolu was killed on Sunday in a hit-and-run accident while cycling with two friends on Bourdilion Road in the Ikoyi area of Lagos.

The Vetiva co-founder was also the first son of a former military administrator of Lagos state, Gbolahan Mudasiru, who died in 2003.

It was gathered that the two others crushed by the fleeing driver were receiving treatment at the Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi.

Vetiva Capital Management posted a picture of Olaolu on its official Twitter handle on Monday to announce his demise.

The caption read, “We have lost our Super Griffin. Rest in Peace, Dr Olaolu Mudasiru (Dr. Bob).”

The state police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

Hundeyin said efforts were ongoing to track down the killer driver.

He said, “Around 5.30am, a distress call was received at the station that a vehicle, make and driver yet unknown, allegedly hit one Dr Laolu Mudashiru, aged 68, the Deputy Managing Director of Vetiva Capital and a son to the late Air Commodore, Gbolahan Mudashiru, of Banana Island, Ikoyi, with two others, while cycling along Gerrard Road near NNPC Plc, Ikoyi.

“As a result of the accident, victims sustained injuries on their bodies and were rushed to Lagoon Hospital, Bourdillon, Ikoyi, where Mudashiru later died, while others are still responding to treatment.

“Based on the report, a team of traffic personnel visited the hospital. The corpse was inspected and photographed. The corpse was deposited at a public morgue for an autopsy.

“Meanwhile, effort is ongoing to track down the fleeing driver. Investigation is in progress, and we have not made any arrest.”
